Say

“Fighting with the shadows in your head
Living out the same old moment
Knowing you’d be better off instead,
If you could only . . . Say what you need to say” –
Say by John Mayer

For years they’ve circled
around me – tethered
regrets I have birthed –
powerless to escape.

The blank page’s pleadings
have finally given me the
strength to sever regret’s
thick, twisted cords.
