My Moment to Breathe

All I want is…

the sound of rolling waves

piercing parched and broken

skin

the warm golden tendrils of

sand between solitary

toes

the smooth curve of orange

frowning at its own reflecting

smile

the taste of salt and wind

playing bittersweet on the

tongue

and the smell of life and death

dancing with a disappearing

moon.

  1. This poem conveys feeling beautifully. I haven’t been by the ocean in years but you brought it all back – the sound, the taste, the feel, the sense of life and death and all things being in their own time and place. Thank you for bringing back that feeling of forever-ness.
